About KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology)

KAUST is located on the Red Sea coast in Thuwal, Makkah Province, Saudi Arabia. It takes one hour from the Jeddah international airport to KAUST by car. KAUST is an international graduate-level research university. KAUST is founded in 2009. It is a young university but recognized as a high-level research activity thanks to the cutting-edge research facilities in each lab and Core Laboratories. Students and postdocs at KAUST can use the qualitative machines in the Core labs for material characterization and device fabrication. For applicants of MS/PhD and PhD students and Postdoctoral fellows

The ECO Devices lab welcomes the application of self-motivated Master and Ph.D. students as well as Postdoctoral research fellows. Interested applicants with electrical engineering and/or physics background are invited to submit their application to Prof. Kazuhiro Ohkawa with

  • Motivation statement including a brief statement of research interests and/or plan

  • A copy of transcripts for Master and Ph.D. applicants

  • A Curriculum Vitae

An applicant for the postdoctoral fellow position should be familiar with one of MOVPE, LED&LD device processing, Nitride-based LEDs, and Nitride-based LDs at least.

ECO Device Lab accepts interns in the fields of novel red LEDs, micro-LEDs, and VCSEL projects from 1 month to 6 months.

  Eligibility

  • 3rd Year and above Baccalaureate or Masters Students. Current PhD candidates, KAUST students or KAUST alumni are ineligible to apply

  • GPA 3.5/4 or 14/20 (ECTS B)
